Distributor/rotor question
In the process of tuning up my ignition system.
I looked at my present distributor and rotor; the contact points and tip looked a bit dirty so I scraped the oxidation off with a sharp point until clean metal was seen, put it back on and the car ran fine. I just bought a new set, and the contact points and rotor tip didn't look any different outside of being clean. I expected maybe larger contact points/tip or something physically obvious to say to me "this is going to wake the engine up". My question is: Is there a difference internally that would improve my performance if I continue to use the old set and clean it every 3000 miles or so? I'd like to save the $50 to use on other parts. Thanks for any opinions. Brian |

Im sure you could find a cap and rotor for under 50., however you could get away with what you did for awhile, but for the price you are better off replacing them. Its something you dont change every month or so. |
