Angry No insurance company will give me insurance for track days???

I don't know if this is a Swedish thing, but all the insurance companies that I have contacted here in Sweden are unable to give me cover for track days What do you all do? What is the point of having a nice fast car, if you can not get to use it on a track - where it is at least safe to drive fast!!!!!

When you ask up front every company will exclude coverage. If you read the exclusion clauses and it doesn't exclude 'closed course high speed driving" which is not the same as racing, then you have a good chance at being covered. Some places, like most companies in Canada exclude the closed course driving. Many US companies haven't gotten there yet. If your car is more race prepped than a street car and it gets wadded up, your chances of coverage slim down. The devil is in the details of the contract.
Your best insurance is to not drive over your head.
Remember, better to ask forgiveness than permission.
There are also race insurance companies that have policies based on the car value. They typically have 2 to 5 thousand dollar deductibles and coverage runs about 6 to 7 hundred for 20 to 30 track days. talk to your local race sanctioning body.

So if I understand this correctly, the normal practice is to have two insurance covers for the car - one for normal road use and one for track use??

Any feedback on how well they handle claims?

Nope... the one track incident that I had I ended up being able to get my normal carrier to cover the bill to the tune of $15k (thanks Safeco), however they promptly dropped me.

My read of American Collectors is that is really a "All or Nothing" policy... with a 20% deductable you essentially have to total the car to make a claim worthwhile

I just looked into American Collectors Insurance for a DE with my 930 (Hagerty doesn't cover ANY track events).

My annual Hagerty policy is $495 with a $30,000 stated value.

For a full year of DE coverage, ACI wants $450/year ($30,000 value x 1.5%) with a $6,000 (20%) deductible.

I would have to TOTAL the vehicle on the track for this to make any sense whatsoever.

I guess "self-insured" and driving at 8/10ths is the best way to go?

The best way to go is to race a disposable car, LOL. Or one that has plentiful and inexpensive crash parts.

Or track a nice car, but don't hit anything, or get hit.

I track my 911, but I RACE my Mazda.
