Looks like a nice copy of a Recaro Pole Position (PP.)..and a bit more pricey than the very equivalent looking NEX and FK seats that were discussed here...and can be had for as low as $200/each.

It seems the key factor is if the manufacturer went to the trouble and expense of certifying the seat to FIA regs.... Recaros's do ( like Sparco and Cobra , for example)...and this certification process must play into the pricing structure. The FK and NEX seats, besides being knock-offs that are meant to be sold at a lower price point...don't have this certification. Doesn't mean they're worse...just means they're not certified. If you run your car in sanctioned events...better check this aspect to guide your purchase decision...here too with these seats.

I saw some at a DE, they were the ones with the wrap around head support like the cup car seats. They actually looked decent but without any sort of certification who knows? They are cheaper than Recaro or Sparco - but they aren't dirt cheap. Seats are an important part of the overall driver safety system, and without any certification or testing who knows what kind of loads these can stand up to. Personally I'd rather spend more and get seat from a reputable manufacturer, or spend the same or less and get some brand name used seats.

For racing purposes, the certification allows you to install without a backrest support. In SCCA, any non certified seat must have a back support that attaches to the roll cage. Basically, the support must be through bolted to the back, to resist forward and backward or side impacts.

The rule originated when a Porsche 944 spun at Lime Rock in the rain at the end of the straight, and backed into a bridge support, which, I understand had an earthen embankement in front of it.

The impact snapped the front seat mounts, and the seat hinged backwards on the rear mounts. The driver was forced up and backwards, and sadly died due to neck injuries.

It was a PCA event, but the SCCA suggested the very next week, thru the grapevine, that all seats receive such supports. A year later it was a new GCR rule.

Some disagee, but I think such supports are a good idea regardless. The seat shown appears to be an ideal candidate as the web design of the back would be particularly ideal for a through bolted support.

IF the car will see track use, but there will be no roll bar installed, then a properly certified seat and mounting system would be a better choice.
