Upgrading the 1973 RSR (ex Don Ramsay) Pics!!

Friends, I thought I'd share some of the upgrades done to WFW (Way Fast Whitey, as Don called her).

Here is the car, which I believe some of you are familiar with:

Of course the ignition system had to replace the m otronic unit. Clewett engineering parts were used, and Patrick Motorsports Twin plug direct fire ignition system:

Also for the engine, Patrick's headers and megaphones replaced the installed supertrapps

And alluminum clutch, also from Patrick was installed

Great-looking car,

but an 'upgrade' from Motronic to carbs? Hmmm...

Thats one nice car. Your going to have some fun with it for sure.

randywebb 06-02-2006 10:18 PM

weld every seam

get the Wevo SPS stuff

Halm 06-03-2006 03:46 AM

Nice car, to say the least! I haven't seen many 3.6's converted to carb's. What was the motivation and the results?

twin plugged targa 06-03-2006 05:04 AM

I was just wonderring ' how could make that car any nicer?'
But you answered the question!!!
Seriously nice car!

Ian, Hal
Sorry I wasn't explicit enough. The car is to be raced at vintage series.
"Period correct" cars are the only ones admitted (with a poetic license, of course) hence, no motronic is allowed. Cars must run with carbs. So that is the motivation. The results are to be seen!

Randy, any pointers to a specific area that i should put extra attention to weld??

I'm gonna look for the SPS wevo stuff, because I don't know what it is/does.

Ben, karguy, Ed: thanks!!

I dunno where, but we've had ongoing discussions on this.

Maybe we can chip in to pay for your car to be a test mule!

Search up the thread titled approximately "Chassis Reinforcement" - it's been acitve in the last week or two.

I assume you have a full cage (?) -- even so, some ideas there may be useful.

randywebb 06-03-2006 11:50 AM

oh yeh - search for SPS wevo - current thread -- rated as fabulous, but costs a kilobuck.

lateapex911 06-03-2006 11:53 AM

kilobucks seem in easy supply judging by the initial cost and upgrades!!

PorscheGuy79 06-03-2006 11:54 AM

CJ,

I have to tell you bud, when I saw this thread...I was really worried. I thought Don did a great job and I was cringing at the thought that some idiot would go and screw with it. But you my friend, are no idiot. The upgrades are all a perfect fit for the car, just bettering it a bit more. Nice Job!

cjpani 06-03-2006 07:21 PM

Randy, cage seems to be in tip top shape, and it hasn't been touched

http://img220.imageshack.us/img220/2...24809zc.th.jpg

The only section we've messed around with is this:

http://img220.imageshack.us/img220/1...24657vm.th.jpg

which now looks a bit like this:

http://img73.imageshack.us/img73/683...35713ia.th.jpg

this was needed to install the 20" lightweight radiator and a different dimention fuel cell in order to make the "tunnel" of hot air exiting the back of the radiator go underneath the car.

Matthew, I know the feeling you're talking about man!, thanks for the nice words. BTW the link in your signature does not work.

best regards,,

Carlos
