Finished installing Tony's EFI a few weeks back and I thought it was time for a picture and an update. The install went really smooth and now the car starts fast whether cold or hot. I have a lot better throttle response, too.......no CIS lag. I haven't even taken time to do any tuning yet with my laptop. I can't imagine it running any better than it does right now, but it will be fun to see if it can. Really cleaned up the engine compartment and gave me some room to work in there.
Great email support from Tony and fast shipping. Here's the tbitz link: http://bitzracing.com and one for the PORSCHE sticker: http://signspecialist.com/ Also have MSD, Magnecor wires, and soon Pertronix ignition. ![]()

Noticed no AAV? How is the cold start, No hoses. What did you do with them?

No AAV, not sure if I had one. It was 27 degrees here just after I installed it and it started right up every morning. I love it! I was having cold start problems and a leaking fuel distributor, too. I'm sure it could all have been fixed, but this is so much simpler.

BB,
Would/could you be able to share your MS programming? I'm putting together a 3.0 turbo. What size injectors did you go with on the 2.7 under boost? Thanks

Is that a recent rebuild? The engine looks extremely clean. Also, where did you source the intake components going to the throttle body?

I'm thinking of going the same way. Does Tony's kit come with a base map??

1fastredsc,
The "cobrahead" elbow and aluminum intake tubing are from: http://store.airflo.com/ Since the car had been sitting for so long I took everything apart down to the case for inspection and cleaning. I found a broken ring in #1 with some damage so replaced the piston, rings and cylinder. I bought the engine gasket set and replaced them all after a thorough cleaning of every part that couild be removed. Time-serts had been installed and I did the chain tensioner upgrade "while I was in there." Had to buy a few new tools like the ones for the cam timing and a bigger jack. Wouldn't have done it without a book like Wayne's and the support from this forum. Thanks everybody! village idiot, Yes, Tony's kit comes with a base map. He said the tuning is 95% done and I believe it. My car runs great and I haven't done any tuning yet with the laptop. I've had it connected and it will be easy to datalog while driving, then import the info to MSTweek3000 for tuning.

What was your total out-of-pocket for this project? How long did it take too?

Hi Rick,
So far, I've spent about $5800 on parts including new tires, complete brake system parts, wheels polished by Al Reed, tbitz EFI, MSD, plug wires, alternator, gaskets, plugs, clutch disk and seals, Carrera tensioners, CV joint w/axle, and a multitude of little stuff. Car was only $5600 so I feel like I'm still OK, but it doesn't matter since I get a lot of satisfaction out of working on it and putting it back on the road. We'll be enjoying it this summer! I've worked on it in my spare time for the last 6 months or so.

No, no. I mean on the EFI conversion. How much did all that cost?

No, but now I wish I had. Have you heard of any significant gains with this EFI? It sure feels like it has more power and accelerates faster, too.
