Lowering the rear end.....I know....
 

Well here is another post for trying to figure out the best way to lower the rear end of my car. I checked through the articles and can't seem to find exactly how to do this. Can anyone give me some advice. I have a 75 911 and need to drop the rear about 2in. My car doesn't have the adjustable arms as the later 911's do. Please let me know if anyone can point in the right direction.

First off, go buy either a factory manual or at least "101 Projects for your 911".

What you will need to do is reindex your torsion bars which will change the springplate angle thus lowering the rear of the car. Be forewarned, this is not a task that will be easy, especially if you don't have a lot of mechanical experience. You WILL need to get the car aligned when done so you should plan on what ride height you want to end up with front and rear and work toward that goal. Trust me, messing around with the rear suspension can get ugly very quickly.

Thanks I do have 101 Haynes and a couple others. Also I am very well skilled mechanically and have read on here how much a PIA it is but it needs to be done. Well I'll try and find some more info before I begin.

A magnetic angle guage (purchased for $10 or so) that you can stick to the spring plate. Take off the spring plate covers, remove the trailing arm from the spring plate by removing all 4 bolts (including the alignment bolts), crank the spring plates down a notch. Record the angles on a piece of paper. Put everything back together, measure ride height, and repeat until satisfied.

When you get tired of doing this, consider buying adjustable spring plates ;)

Remember...patience is a virtue.

Oh, and now you need an alignment. You can do that too by searching the Pelican forums.

Do it a few times and you are an expert....BTW, consider upgrading to larger bars and renewing the bushings while you at it.

Sway Away makes adjustable arms and bars,,,the arms should come with new bushings.
