LM-1 or PLX R300??

I've convinced myself that I need/want a wide band Air/Fuel meter setup. I'm looking at the LM-1 with the RPM cable and at the PLX model R300. They seem to be similar in terms of functionally and fairly close in price. I'd be very interested in the opinions of those that have used either of these setups. What are the strenghts and weaknesses of each? Of these two, which one should I buy? Others?

HELP!

Thanks, John

I have a PLX but it sounds very similar to the LM-1 which our host carries.
Mine's hooked to my Tbitz megasquirt EFI controller. It can handle either the narrow band or the wide band o2 sensor.
I've had the PLX for about a year on my daily driver 82 911SC and haven't had any problems with it. The display on the PLX wouldn't lend itself to a dash installation. Mine's velcro'd to the top of the console. You might be able to replace the dash clock with the LM-1 display, I'm not sure if it's a comparable size.

I almost forgot, the PLX doesn't do data logging, at least some models of the LM-1 have some limited datalogging. Not a big deal for me as the Megasquirt logs everything.

Thanks for the reply. Which model PLX do you have? I am under the impression that the model R300 does data logging.

If you are running EFI, then all you need is the LC-1 wideband O2 sensor and controller ($199). This interfaces to the MegaSquirt which does all the logging. No need for LM-1 or R-300.

Only issue with MS logging is that the laptop needs to be connected to it in realtime? Would be a problem if I want to log how she runs on track - I dont want (& most places disallow) potentially flying object (laptop) in the car while you drive.

Yes, A laptop is needed for storage of the logs. You can also usa a Palm pilot for logging. I have a very old one with limited memory, but some of the modern Palm Pilots maybe able to log data for a long time.

I have a PLX model 250 but it does not have a display, I now wish I would have spent the extra money to have one with a display. Oh well it works.

Mounted in an S2000. Not really ideal to drill into my dash like that.

One of the lead engineer's of the LM1 team is a Pelican BBS member. He is a lot of help. Enough reason for me to go with the LM1
