How do I replace bushings on Clutch Fork?

Do I have to tap out the release pin and remove the fork in order to replace the bottom bushing? If so, what should I use to tap this out...a narrow punch etc...? Can it only be driven out in one direction?

The busings are really cheap...I think they were less than a dollar from our host. I ordered 4 or 5 so I would have extras...

It's very important that you make sure the shaft is puched as far up into the bell housing as possible after replacing the bushing. We just did this job and after we reassembled the tranny/motor and had it installed, we realized the shaft was jutting down too low under the car. We ended up dropping the set again and found debris in the top hole, preventing us from fully pushing the shaft up. I hope this makes sense. If not, let me know.

I got the roll pin out....need to degrease everything. The fork looks to be in great shape. I'll make sure to clean the top hole...thanks again to all that offered advice.

Before you put it back together make extra sure the fork doesn't have any cracks. Clean it off and then douse with a fast evaporating solvent and quickly inspect it for any hairline cracks where the tines meet the body of the fork.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1149586626.jpg

Based on Bobby's post, I might make sense to have the fork penetrant inspected prior to re-assembly.
Just a thought.
