Cabriolet Question

I'm trying to figure out how to get the top down on my project 88 cabriolet. Is there something missing in this picture?

Thanks-

Can't help you on the top question, but met you @ the Woods/Anderson course and was wondering how the turbo project was coming along. If your down to the motorized top, you must be making progress. Craig

There doesnt appear to be anything missing. Is it a power or manual top?

It should be power for 88 but otherwise it has no handles for undoing the latches manually.

If you have no power, there should be a tool in your tool kit that you insert in there to rotate the cam to undo the top. If you can't find the tool, try a flat blade screwdriver (I think). BTW...it takes a lot of turns to move the cam from either position (closed vs. open).

once you get top down, what are you going to do? to never have the nightmare day or evening, when sudden microburst comes my way drenching my interior and myself and g/friend. we have made top into a "manuel" top. simply put we have discoed everything but front pull down/release motors. price cables motors labor etc. and you will choke!........violently! ask me how i know???? went round and round on this one giant PITA! even with all new components installed you are looking at a couple years before things go bad again. kinda like plumbing leak......fix initial leak and by the time you know it..........youve REPLUMBED THE HOUSE! good friend works on them all day long. he is a very reputable porsche mechanic. he makes damn good money fixing them. id rather spend bucks elsewhere and go to NOAA.com and have in depth forecast and put top up or down a la "MANUEL"!

as for the chance of sudden micro-burst..........i can get out damn quick from 75MPH to 0 and have it on and latched. only bothersome thang about doing this is your red light dead center dash will stay on 24/7. hi-buck solution..........electrical tape!

Chas,
Is "Manuel" your house boy who holds the palm leaves over your head so you do not croak due to the AZ heat baking your melon; or are you simply making reference to a manual top on a cab?
FYI..."Discoed" went out in the late 70's
Cheers,

no i am "MANUEL" the cabana boy! i got this top drill down pat! blowing money on go fast-stop quick goodies instead. my mechanic friend makes serious serious bucks repairing these. and loves doing it. he is fast and he is good. easy money vs. other PITA jobs.

im sure if i had a newer car i would raise hell about top not working 100% of the time here. but w/a 20 yr old car i had to weigh 2 yrs of having fun pushing button vs catalogs full of items i really need. would guess it takes me from pulling first TENEX fastener to top closed about a minute and a half single handed. so not a big deal.

IT WAS A BIG DEAL when top wouldnt latch down in front one day w/storm brewing! had visions of hailstones and a throughly drenched interior, and that had me at PUCKER LEVEL 10!
