Its a replica..albeit a good one..featured in Excellence a while back as being particularly faithful. Still .. the ad is misleading in that "this car" won Mexican races...etc.....when it should read "this car model"..it wasn't THAT specific , singular example that won... it was likely never in existence then.
I recall that shop asking $65K for a roller, IIRC from the Excellence article Wil

Wil, this particular car (yes the very one) ran the carrera panamerica or at least its modern day equivilant and did place. I am not sure of the exact name of the current day event, but it was there. I have spoken with the owners and have been on the track with this car. The last time I saw it at the track it still had its decals all over it........ Like I said though, I acan not remember the exact name of the race....Heck, I even helped push it when they ran it out of gas!!

The race is still called the Carrera Panamericana & this actual car took place in the 2000, 2002 & 2003.
Here's a brief in-car video: http://www.technic-motorsport.com/videos/MilCumbres.mpg - It's a 55mb file so you'll need a fast connection.

then maybe the caption should read....."competed in the re-running of the famous Mexican classic" , or somesuch. The original Carrera Panamericana was run in the 50's with Porsche (typically) entering 550's..
.... my mistake, then.... Wil |

Did you guys see the 904 that they found lost in storage for like 35 years? It's supposed to be auctioned off soon. There are ads throughout the vintage car mags. It looks like it's been under an inch of dust forever. The four cam is out of it (but comes with) and instead it's got an early 911S engine in it.

I think that 904 was found in France. It was discussed in the 'Sad and abandoned Porsches' thread a while back.
