Is the RUF "Kompressor" a supercharger?

I was checking this out at RUF...

http://www.rufautocentre.com/conversions/996.asp

and im guessing this is a supercharger?

BTW, RUF is one of the few people out there that can make a 996 actually look good!

"The Kompressor Conversion is based on a centrifugal compressor, mechanically driven by a Poly-Rip belt"

That, by definition is a supercharger, as opposed to a turbo-supercharger.

In this context "Kompressor" is German for supercharger. A turbo would be called a "Turbo" and a twin turbo is usually a "Biturbo".

Hope this helps. I met a guy at the track this spring who had a 996 with a supercharger. Someone seems to make a kit. I hope someone will make a real kit for the air cooled 3.6 at some point in time.

Superchargers of Knoxville? I know they sell kits for the 3.0, but it does seem far from plug and play and is also pricey. I am saying this without knowing how much the 996 kit is, but it certainly looked well designed and integrated to the engine compartment, while the knoxville unit on the 3.0 looks like a washing machine hidden under your rear hatch.
