Mice near my 993!

I know this has been covered before. But I have no dog or cat food or any other kind of food at all anywhere near my garage. Came home today and two very small mice were sitting in front of my garage door, probably small enough to have squeaked beneath it. They barely moved when I approached them. So I got them covered with a large funnel, scooped them up and threw them into a bucket of water. Just did a very thorough inspection under the 993, behind the alt. fan and all around the engine room. Nothing. No mouse turds anywhere. But these guys were very small. I wonder if the mother is nearby. What attracts them if there's no food anywhere there? I'm off to buy traps now. What's the best bait to use?

Peanut butter. They are just looking for cool and damp this time of year.

I had some mice in my garage this past fall, I put lots of D-con out and some moth balls strategically placed in the garage on either side of the garage door where the little buggers appeared to be sneaking in. I haven't seen or heard any mice since.

I have a 6' Boa who wouldn't mind a snack. But he'd sneak into that warm engine and be an even bigger problem.

When you use peanut butter or cheese tie it down with some thread. The mice nowadays are smart and can get the peanut butter or cheese off without setting the trap off.

Clearly these mice are p-car fans and were simply admiring your 993. Ironically, you'll usually find rats near f-cars.....

No, they usually won't drive them for fear of breaking something. More than likely they'll just tell you how expensive and rare they are.

MOUSE TALES I LOVE THEM! here in the bright sunny hot as hell SW we have mooses(micccez) everywhere. and their cuzzins mr pack rat. if you store a vehicle outside ALWAYS leave hood up so the bastards dont set up a commune in your engine compartment and enjoy a nice diet of your wiring loom! as far as your garage it was mentioned peanut butter and traps. this works well but there are other tricks. A) RWS MODEL 54 .177 pellet rifle. FPS velocity faster than most standard .22 shells. its a $548 dollar german pellet rifle that goes w/german car! they make pistoles also. B) KATZ C) stick-em strips, their lil feetzies get caught and they die a horrible dehydrated death(bastards) D) close all windows to garage(heat buildup cooks there lil brains and they have to move searching for water) which brings you back to (A)! E) play stereo 24/7 for some damn reason they just hate CHER! F) hi-pressure air wand in all areas of garage to destroy nests and disrupt their lil lives(bastards) G) BULL SNAKES! this is a VALUE ADDED BONUS HERE!!!!! bull snakes love mizzzez. find one and let him loose in garage your problem WILL BE SOLVED AND FAST! and they hate rattlesnakes and are their natural enemies and will kill them(bastards also). just one small problem.......you better be able to ID difference btwn bull snake and western diamond-back(crotalus-bas-tardus coon tail) or you will have bigger problem than mizzez. if you see mice turds jump on problem ASAP. in my garage at home i leave top up windows up and eng lid up all the time!

just a note for all you fly boys........FAA and NTSB have on file recorded cause of fatal plane crashes back to mizzez and mr pack rat getting into fuselage up wheel struts thru open windows and hatches and eating wiring and other assorted items.

I didn't feel guity in the least, drowning those bastards last night. Unfortunately, the small caliber gun I have is a 9mm, which I can't really go plinking in my garage with.

I knew a guy who would put his car up on jackstands, the base of the jackstands coated with "tanglefoot"...if the mouse tried to climb the jackstand he would remain ON the jackstand...

the other night i saw a solution for $379 bucks...........enclose your P-CAR in a bubble of plastic w/its own lil filtered air fan! no kidding! drive car on, zip up plastic and wa-laa its sealed from the elements! dont know if its pack rat proof! but it was a good idea for mizzez!

Gentlemen:
Please remember that after the event which killed off the dinosaurs many years ago, the only mammals that survived were mouse-like creatures. So, in essence, we evolved from them....

Rick, will the price for the SC be dropping now that's it is potentially mouse infected?

Pat

A mouse can jump. Get some snap traps and superglue half peanuts to it. It works very well. I killed 30+ mice in my house and garage.

SC is stored elsewhere and I've seen no mice there. I see that car so seldom that I'd worry about setting traps and then the gawf awful stench in that garage after a week or two before I could get there to check it.

Best traps are the glue traps. Very small mice can hop right over the spring type using the trigger or platform as a spring board, never setting the trap off. I've seen this happen first hand.

I use mothballs in my garage and that seems to keep the mice away...
