Exclamation Urgent - Z1 does it mark 4th cyl?

I'm in the middle of a valve adjustment. I'm trying to find out in the Z1 mark should be lined up for the 4th valve. OR should the line right before it be used for the 4th valve. Currently I have the previous mark lined up and there is play in the 4th valve rocker arm suggesting it is the previous mark.

Please help

Yes, Z1 is used for cylinders 1 & 4.

Z2 is used for cylinders 6 & 3.

Z3 is used for cylinders 2 & 5.

The separation of all of these pairs of cylinders is exactly 360° out of a 720° timing cycle.

Tom,

I am assuming your pulley closely resembles the one for MFI engines in '72 - '73 below from the spec book ... which I have heard was used into the '80s on CIS engines! I have added some labels and the 'FE' mark for MFI pump timing ... to make it visually accurate.

The fourth notch -- to the left of Z1 is 5° ATDC.
