Finished AC griffiths install on R134
So after not having a working AC for several years I finally got my Griffiths kit installed and running. Had lots of issues since my mechanical abilities are very average and the AC system was very old. It looks like it is finally done.
I ended up replacing all hoses, dryer, evaporator, front condensor fan, evaporator fan and added two condensors in the driver rear wheel well I was able to get 32 F on 80 F ambient at the garage at 2K rpm with the fan speed set to the middle speed on R134. I took a short drive today and I was still able to get low 30s vent temps with an ambient temp of around 89F. The cabin temp was in the mid 70s. Which I am not that thrilled about. I am gathering in order to get lower cabin temps air flow needs to be increased. All I can think of is replacing the bow tie vent near the center console. Suggestions are welcomed. ![]() ![]()

Mauricio,
I have an '89 with a recent A/C upgrade. I used a different supplier but got similar excellent results. Your cabin would be more comforable with more air moving. You can simply remove the bowtie and see what it's like. You can then add a center vent extension to it if you think it is necessary. I haven't done it yet, but I like the idea of the variable speed control Griffiths sells. The factory speed control is too low at medium and too high and loud at high. A variable control would get it just where you want it.
