Help with a VIN Number (Is this car rare)?
The VIN # is 1193000004, which makes it a 69 911 "S", but it is a LWB car with a lightweight tub, 2.5ltr engine with high butterfly injection, twin plug, "R" hinges, central filler for gas, other "R" mods, and a 906 trans. Is it one of the 911 "S/T GTs" or just a clone. Have some racing history. Please help. Thank you in advance.

Hello Marc,
From my dumped out facts book, its a '69 911S Coupe (B-Series). it should have a 901/10 engine and a 901/07 tranny. (For Vins 119300001-301492 engine No. were 6390001-6392126) The 69 911R had twin plugs and 906 trans, but only 2,0 liters. May be its a 70-71 / 72 911 RSR engine (911/70 or 911/73) which both had 2,5 liters, twin ignition and 906 trans or a good upgrade. (I have no numbers for these). Does this help? |

Thanks Jens,
It helps me out quite a bit, but I didn't have the engine number at that point. The engine number is 903178, which I beleive is not an "R" type engine. I have found a lot of racing history on this particular car, but I can't put a value on the car. There are too many things I just can't trace. Thank you for the time you have spent already with this matter. I appreciate your help very much. |

Hey Marc,
Your car seems to be a strange mixture of parts. The six-figure-engine no. refers to a very old 911 Coupe. Actually, it SHOULD be a 2.0 lit. O- Series engine from 1965. But with 2.5 lit. twin plug heads, may be just the case is original. On the other hand, many of the early porsches were rebuilt and used for racing, esp. in the US. Good luck for further investigations! jens |
