getting 911 ready for hybernation
What should be done to prepare a 98 911C2S to go through the winter. This car will be stored in a garrage under cover. (engine lubricants, tire pressure, good underbody wash, battery ect, what else?)
Thanks much. [This message has been edited by Bubba Scratch.] |

Boy, I wish I had to worry about storing a new car (instead of an '83 SC), but here's generally what I do:
*change the oil and filter *put in new plugs *pump the tires up to 45 psi *put in a jar of "dry gas" and fill the tank *"grease" all the seals, rubber trim; etc. *clean the car inside and out I put some old carpet down on the floor of my garage - a cold concrete floor can sometimes allow moisture in. Other than this I just pull the car in and stare at it for 6 months until the snow melts : ) Most of the new tires will return to form even if left sitting over a winter, but I pump the tires up anyway... When you take it out next spring, you will want to be sure to check all fluids, and probably change the oil and filter again. I also take a peek at suspension and half-shaft parts in the spring, just b/c I'd rather find something wrong in my garage in May than on the road in July... |
