Porsche Dealerships
I'm a long way from buying a new Porsche, but I was wondering what type of experience could be expected when buying a new Porsche.
In my area, there are dozens of GM dealerships, I can count on these guys keeping each other honest since they're all in competition for my cash. Things are quite different with Porsche dealers. There probably isn't a half dozen Porsche dealers within 500 miles. Without the threat of taking my money elsewhere, how can I go into a Porsche dealership and walk out with a car at a fair price? Peter (note: I'll also throw in here that even if I had mountains of $100 bills, the price of the car is still important. If I can save $5,000 off of the sticker price of the car, that's $5k on racing lessons. ![]() |

Without taking this the wrong way, if you have the money to buy the car... you should be able to take the time to, if nothing else, to shop it over the internet. The most amazing thing about Porsche is that it is such a widely respected automobile that, unless it is very collectable, the markets tend to stay close together price wise. The cabs and 4wd cars will be more expensive in climates that are conducive to those types of cars. The rest are relative. If you are looking at earlier cars, California and southern (non-rust) areas tend to bring the most money, so consult those papers. Warranties are worth something, as well, if you are in an area with few dealers. Consult as many papers and dealerships as possible and you will wind up with a wonderful ride. Good luck with your search.
