Hazard Flasher/Blinker Relay

Lately my turn signals have been not working unless I adjust (sounds better than jiggle) the Blinker Relay. This is getting worse and it seems my adjustment does not last very long.
I Pulled out the relay and cleaned the ends put it back in and it still needed adjusting. Seems like the wires in the female terminal (sounds better than do-hickey) may be the cause. I really hope not as that would involve a lot of wires and electric tape which is not my forte!
Someone tell me that I just need a new Hazard Flasher/Blinker Relay for $33 from our host that is 25 years old and needs replaced.

Hey Bagpiper,

One other thing you can try. If you look at the ends of the male prongs on the relay, they are actually split. Over time, they get pushed into place and may not make good contact anymore. Try pushing a needle or dentist's pick into the hole at the end of the prong to spread them out a bit and they may make better contact. HTH,

I had a similiar problem where exterior blinkers worked and interior were screwed up. I replaced the flasher relay and the problem was fixed. Borrow one from a local Porsche owner to see if the problem goes away.

I am 120 miles to the nearest 911 SC owner! 7 more years in prison and I am outta here!! Thinking of retiring to Charlotte NC area. Oh well I am going to Denver this Saturday to attend a high School reunion in Littleton. Will probably spend some time driving up one of the canyon roads just to experiance a non straight road for a change! Think I'll just order one from our host and hope for the best.

Thanks all.

Big Piper:

Before doing that just check the 912 registry and search for "Blinker Relay replacement" I had the same problem once and solved buying a cheaper blinker ar pep boys it was a $ 11.00 fix , someone said that the original blinkers just not work properly , but it maybe worth to look at it in detail:

Maybe you just need to refill the Blinker Fluid reservoir.

Well the relay is no longer alive. The jiggle method has failed and no amount of coaxing will bring it back to life. I need to change the oil soon and might as well try a $32 part from our host
to make it a full weekend. On a side note I was going to go to work this morning when I noticed my wife had parked her quickly depreciating Jeep in the driveway behind my Classic appriciating Porsche 911 SC. Had to do about 3 reverses and 4 forwards to slip out the other side of the 2 car garage. Try that in a Hummer!

Surprised you could get out past the oil slick!
