Engine # ?

Hello there,
I have a bunch of books etc... They all say the engine number for my 911 T from 1970 should be on the right side of the casing below the fan housing but I have nothing there. The engine is the 2.2 it should be and was well rebuilt some years ago but I can't find that darn engine number. It doesn't even look like someone tempered with an original stamping of any kind. Any idea out there?

It is near the oil sender unit, tucked inside one of the nooks and crannies.
