flywheel nuts

I need to take the flywheel off my '70 911t engine but I need to buy the correct wrench to remove the six cheesehead screws and I was hoping someone could tell me what size to buy. Is this a standard Torx bit??. Also is it possible to split the case without removing the flywheel.
thanks alot.
martin

The correct tool is a 12mm-12 point "Star" or "Fillister" bit. Snap-On sells these (12STSM-12A)although there not at all inexpensive. You absolutely need one of these however it you going to R&R a 911 flywheel. The wrong tool will destroy the fastener instead of removing it. Also, they're are a couple of case bolts right behind the flywheel that I believe will make dissassembly impossible with the flywheel in place. Recommend using new hardware to reinstall the flywheel as they most likely won't be reusable following removal. If your flywheel has six bolts, the tourque spec is 108 foot pounds, or nine bolts, 66 foot pounds. Hope this helps
