interiors

I am doing the carpeting over in my 1977 Targa, when I got the car there was no carpet at all. Is this a hard thing to do?? Where do I start?? We have picked out the color and style of carpetting, but do I need to fill all of the holes with plugs, silicone etc?? Am new at this. Any help would be appreciated. I live in the San Jose Ca, area, is there any recommendations on shops, for interiors. Thanks
