I'll be needing to replace the Bridgestone S0-2's sometime soon and was looking through the Tire Rack pages for comparable Bridgestone tires and was surprised to see the limited selection for anything on a 16" rim by any manufacturer. What have you guys decided to run on your cars? I need a 245/45 rear tire.

Right you are. The selection seems to be decreasing every day.
If you look around (Google) you can still find a few SO-3's out there. Otherwise you have to move down the feeding chain. I am looking hard at the Avon's Tire Rack has in that size. Also, we put the Bridgestone 750's on our '04 Audi S4 and they seem pretty nice.

I run Yokohama AVS ES100 - 245/45 on mine (205/55 on front, I think).
I like them on my daily driver, seem to be wearing well, inexpensive.

Harlan,
I had been running S-03s on my 911SC and really liked them enormously for street and track (rain). I thought they were still readily available and, if so, I'd grab them.

Richard C2S, Tire Rack pulled them from their website about 2 weeks ago. That is why I suggest you Google the Internet and find some if you are close to needing them.

I bought Fuzion ZR1 in that size from tire rack. I have been very pleased with these tires.
Very durable and good traction in dry and wet. Not to mention I had two 25 minutes track sessions at Road Atlanta where I ran them very hard. They stuck like glue. Not to mention I am pretty sure they are made by Bridgestone.

Hal,
Thanks. I recently moved to 17" wheels for this very reason. Although there still are some pretty good 16" tires out there in the sizes we need, the choices are getting narrower. Once I figure out what I want to do, I'll probably sell some of the 16x7, 16x8 and 16x9 Fuchs that I have. Right now, I have track tires on 16x7 and 16x9s.

Thanks for your reponses. I hate to give up my 7 and 9" Fuchs. 911's to me look funny with wheels other than Fuchs especially SC's of my vintage. Maybe I'm just too much of a "purist" to throw a set of difficult to clean Fikse wheels on the thing. If Bridgestone were smart, they would offer a full range of sizes in their most expensive performance tire model, but instead they force people into a RE750.

Harlan,
Bridgestone did offer a very full range of sizes in the S-03, which until very recently was their most expensive perf tire. It looks like the S-03 is now being phased out. The Fikses are more diff to clean than the Fuchs, but the Fikses sure are light and strong. BTW, I had the RE-730 (predecessor of the 750) and really liked them, but for the howling after about 5,000 miles.

Second vote for the Fuzions. They are made by Bridgestone, BTW.

I recently bought some wheels with Hankook R2S tires on them. So far I really like them. You might check them out at Edge Racing.
