1976 Exhaust Upgrade
I have a 1976 911S 2.7L. I'm trying to backdate the exhaust system to a 1974 style. The muffler for a 1974 has two inlets, one for each heater box. The 1976 has one inlet for the combined discharge of both headers. When I pulled out the 1976 heater boxes and tried to install the 1974 headers it seems like the oil return line from the engine blocks the driver side header (heater Box). Has anyone performed this upgrade. Do I have to re-route the oil return line to install the header. Also, does anyone have any pointers for a broken exhaust bolt. I'm fairly certain that I'm going to have to drill and tap the hole or possibly use a helicoil.

Yes, you have to also replace the oil line when you are backdating the exhaust system. You need a corresponding back dated oil line.

The same one that you use when upgrade to the SSI heat exchangers. See our catalog for details!
