Need more horsepower!!!

I own a 1976 911S and I want more horsepower. Is there any way I can get 350hp out of it without changing engines? Also I need some cheap door pockets, but that's another story.

Thank you,
Sterling

AAH....no.
About 220 is about it for a street 2.7.
If the bottom end is sound, it'il run you 4/5 large if you do it yourself and it won't pass EPA.

Cheap door pockets, you say? Well, there's a place in Roseburg Or. called Original Fit Interiors (5036794660) that sells door pockets in bare fiberglass for $115 per pair, with factory color carpet for $180 complete. Another possibility is Bw Motorsports (6182772524) which has the bare ones for $99 per pair, but no carpet. If your cardboard pockets are as thrashed as mine, you might be able to peel off the old carpet and reuse. These prices are really cheap compared to Automotion (twice as much+) or factory prices (don't know, don't want to). I was going to order a set myself, but got sidetracked with A/C problems.

I own a 1976 911S also. 350HP will never happen. You can get to around 220HP at best with the existing 2.7L. These are the best available options for increased engine performance.
1) The exhaust system on the 1976 911S 2.7L is not good. They had to add a air injection pump and modify the exhaust system to meet the EPA regulations in 1976. The first thing to do is to back date the exhaust to a 1974 style. This requires two new heater boxes and a new muffler. When you add the new muffler you can go to a sport muffler if you do not mind the noise. This will make a noticable difference.
2) The second available option is to replace the Bosch fuel injection (CIS) with webers or a mechanical fuel injection system if you can find it. This will allow you to replace the CAMS with a more aggresive ones. You cannot replace the CAMS with the CIS system installed. Basically what will happen is that the more aggressive CAM have more overlap between the intake and exhuast valve the the existing CAMS. The CIS system sets the fuel delivery rate by the vacuum that the engine creates. With the more aggesive CAMS the vacuum changes from the overlap and the CIS system will not be able to delivery the fuel properly.
-I removed the smog injection system and I just backdated my exhaust to a 1974 style and installed a B&B mufller. I did notice a difference. -For the amount that the total upgrade would cost with the webers or mech injection and the new cams, it would be cheaper to buy a complete 3.0L turbo engine.
-There is a Porsche handbook that is written by Bruce Anderson. One of the chapters talks about engine upgrades for various size engines. Get this book because he has some good information about performance modifications to this engine.
-As you may be able to tell I have researched engine upgrades for a 1976S 2.7L and the stuff I listed above is about it. It gets real pricy, to the point where buying a bigger engine may be the answer.
-Good luck with 350HP as your target. Let me know what you end up with.
