the turbo pipe was hung up on the metal shield where it joins... All came off as it should after that...
Hell, I even got the broken exhaust stud out with vise grips and a hotter torch. That was satisfaction, let me tell ya! The wastegate is seized onto my old headers so I send them off to a shop close by for them to fiddle with while I proceed to install my new (new to me) GHL headers.. |
Turns out the shop I sent my exhaust to for the wastegate removal can't get it off...
oh well, I guess I'm going to have to get a new one! |
I am in the middle of a 930 rebuild myself and this thread has raised some concerns for me.
I'm going with a IA K27HFS and GHL 930 headers/muffler with heat. I'm converting to EFI also with a goal of 550hp at .9bar. Should I return the GHL headers and go with another setup or should I get another wastegate with my current parts list. The GHLs are still in their box. TIA. |
Ihaven't event started my car..but i can tell you that they look good and well built. Everything surrounding them, is old. My car is close to 20 yrs old, and although it's not a daily driver, it still has 95K miles on it, so you can certainly expect certain things to be rusty and seized (like bolts).
Getting my turbo off was not too hard, a little sweat and it was off. the muffler itself is a breeze. the headers is where the heat is.. so lots of seized stuff there... I sorta am enjoying this, but i want to get the thing back on the road now.. I wasn't planning on buying a new wastegate, stock one was fine, but now I have little choice. |

Headers are in...
Finally go them on. here are some pics...
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1151715713.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1151715787.jpg Thanks everyone for helping. |
mark, I cant believe the trouble you had with your 87. when I took my exhaust off my 76 930, it popped right off. In fact, some of the welds had broken and the parts fell off! I installed a k27 and ghl system with heat and wow!!! is it awesome. I'm sure you'll feel the same way when she comes off the lift
