930 sunroof problem

911 sunroof, motor turning, roof will slide with a little help but will not open or close or go into lock position using rocker switch alone.Opened up the headliner zipper to have a look and found a very large (very dead......thank you Jesus )spider. Not a church goer but thankful for the recall of the 8 legged creature. Not a whole lot of room in the back seat of this vehicle for escape.Anyhow, car a recent import from Florida, lots of unannounced problems, sunroof being one of them.Previous owner has been into this as several screws either loose or missing.I'm a hands on kind of guy looking for a little help.Anyone have experience with this problem and wish to share the cure?

I don't think the 930 sunroof is unique.

Anyone with a 911 and a sunroof should be able to help (you don't want the title of your post to be throwing people off).

Well, it could be that your electric motor is tired and needs to be replaced, gears and guides needs grease, or the rubber coupling between motor and gears are worn and needes replacement.

The sunroof is not that hard to work on once you dig into it. Here's a great guide to get started:
