ignition advance with weber carbs hi

Hi can anybody help me with ignition setup for a 2.7 cis converted to webers? I know that the vacumm line has to be removed as it holds the ignition retarded at idle, but what advances the ignition above idle, does the dizzy have a mechenical advance? My motor has the origional dizzy & was a 1974 2.7 with CIS

Yes, your dizzy has mechanical advance. You should time it as per CIS specs.

Cheers

bede,

The timing specs for my 2.7L show that at idle, with the vacuum connected, the timing should be about 5 deg after TDC. The vacuum advance is good for about 5 to 6 degrees, so disconnecting the vacuum should result in an idle setting of about 1 to 2 degrees before TDC. Then revving up the engine, you should see the timing advance fairly continuously until it stops advancing at close to 6000 RPM with about 35 to 36 degrees of total advance.

I just re-curved my dizzy on 3.0 with CIS.

yrs ago with stock 2.7 CIS dizzy and camshafts I disconnected vac and plugged line then ran 5deg BTDC initial that totaled out at 35deg.

With carbs I'd try same. Now I run the 2.7 Carrera .004 dizzy. It costs around $300 new with cap and rotor. Pelican doesn't list it. You need to call them with dizzy #.

bede,

The vacuum retard module provides 10° of retard, total, at idle!

Ronin provides the good data ... 5° BTDC at idle without the vacuum connected.

Here is a distributor thread with all of the data for your distributor ...

distributor lube...
