"opposite" of engine drop, how-to's?
 

I have my '74 2.7L CIS engine and 915 tranny on an ATV jack and I plan on reinstalling everything Fri/Sat. Does anyone have any helpful suggestions as to reinstalling? The rear valence is off and so is the stock muffler. I have a very narrow workspace, so I have to push the car out, pull the engine/tranny into place, then roll the car back and jack it up. Any helpful tips anyone can share with me? Much thanks!!

Get the rear end high. Then lower the car on to the engine and transmission while trying to keep them both in the same plane. I put my front t-bars on one notch of the jack stands to try and keep the car level.

Also, I kept the motor on the ATV jack and used a second car jack under the tranny so I could easily change the altitude of the transmission.

Don't forget to connect the crankcase breather hose before the engine is in place. Don't forget the ground strap at the front of the transmission, and don't mix up the WUR and Cold Start Injector electrical connections. And don't ask me how I know these things.

I think the starter connection is easier with the engine on the jack too...

Thanks, guys! I've already hooked up the starter and I'm planning on raising the car, keeping the engine/tranny on the ATV jack with the 24"x32" piece of plywood underneath so I can "wiggle" things around, if necessary. I have the muffler off as well as the rear valence. I'm not going to raine the car any higher then necessary because my ATV jack doesn't lift that high. I may start the process tonight, so if I'm still alive after that, I'll post pics...

Before you screw in the transmission mount bolts, first loosen the 4 nuts holding the bracket/saddle supporting the transmission so it is floppy loose. Otherwise, you stand a good chance of cross threading the mounting bolts. (I know of 4 cars where these mounting holes were stripped.)
