how to recover an old 3 spoke steering wheel

I have an old 3 spoke steering wheel that I bought used. The wheel has no leather, but a rubber grip. If I buy a leather cover kit for the wheel, will it fit over the rubber and look right?

Assuming it's a stock wheel, you can get a 3-spoke kit from our host and put it on yourself. Take your time and wear gloves so you don't cut up your hands with the thread.

Their kit should be patterned to cover the rubber parts on the spokes as well.

Do a search for Pelican member "Bigchillcar" - Ryan. He re-did his about a year ago. I did a re-stitch of my good-leather-condition, but-stitching-missing three spoke less than 6 months ago using a product called artificial sinew and curved needles I bought from a large crafts shop. It came out great, but sitting in one spot for the HOURS it takes to do it messed up my back - beware. Good luck!

Pictures of the finished re-stitching:

In the bottom picture you can see the leather had dried and shrunk in a spot and try as I could, I couldn't get it to pull fully closed without tearing through the holes. It is unnoticeable once installed.
