1986 930 Noise

When I go on and off the gas, there is a loud klunk noise coming out of the engine. I can't tell if it is coming out of the turbo, but while driving, I noticed the boost guage wildly shooting all the way up and back a couple of times. I think the noise is to loud and internal sounding to be throttle related. It occurs hot or cold, at idle and at speed. Any ideas?

Hard to say may be a motor mount, if it only did it while driving it would be symptom of a drive train issue such as a CV joint.

I would remove and check the pop-off valve under the inter cooler (not the waste gate) as it sound like the spring that works against the engine vacuum under the valve may have broken. The valve can make a pretty loud sound when closing.

I brought the car by my shop and they feel it is the pop-off valve. They said old 930's will do this, since the bushing at the end will wear out and when opening and closing, the valve will strike metal on metal. They are going to fix next week. I will post the results. They advised driving the car isn't a problem for now. Should I be concerned and park it?

Since your shop didn't say to park it, it should be okay, but damage to the valve could occur? I think you have to buy the pop-off as an assembly and is probably big bucks? I'd minimize the time on the car for this reason,
