Color Change Question

A silver Targa came into our shop for a color change. The customer requested a color to compliment the burgundy/silver interior and selected garnet red metallic. We shot the body as requested and after seeing the color on the body, the customer did not like the color. So, now the customer is thinking that ruby red metallic would be a better choice. In the photos below only the gas door in painted in ruby red metallic, the rest of the car being in garnet red. So now with the customer un-decided, which color do you think looks best? There are not right or wrong answers, we're just looking for your opinion.

Personally I like the color the car is painted. They look close and its hard to tell from the pictures. In the third picture the paint looks dark but in the forth picture the paint looks lighter compared to the gas door. They both would look really good with that interior because they are very similar. Goodluck on whatever he chooses.

Impossible to say from here, LOL. The difference in the two colors is so subtle in the pics, and the margin of error so great thru the net with different camera settings and monitor settings and so on, that it's impossible to say.

Not to be a jerk, but I hate red cars with red interiors. (or blue with blue, green/green, etc.)

I'd have painted it charcoal or something contrasting to the red. Maybe use the inserts as a starting point.

Not that that helps you, LOL...sorry!

I agree. The red interior seems to clash with the red outside. I cannot see a difference in the paint on the gas door either.

Ask a female to look at it, they see a wider range of the color spectrum.

Can't see the difference but rather than screw up the car anymore color changes, I'd leave it as it is. Lookslike you did a nice job. Why yet another color when the two shown are relatively close?

I bet silver would look real nice with that interior!

That's what I thought initially....but the seat inserts look like a biscuit...might want to stay away from silver that would be the same saturation but slightly off in the hue. One of those too close deals.

If the inserts were different, then silver would be a great choice.

Maybe a warm silver? or a warm grey. Or black,

We are struggling with the similarities in color too. Neither one is prefect and either would be fine.

Funny re asking a female. :D

Thanks for the compliment Dan. That's why we'd hate to have to re-shoot it for such a small difference in color. But if we have to...

If you're going to go with one of those, then you're done. Leave it be! Not worth the time and money for a insignificant chage like that.

First step is pretty obvious -- Get rid of those horrible seat inserts.

Second step -- Done. New exterior color looks just fine.

Red and burgundy do not mix. Burgundy always makes red look orange.

I painted a Ford ranger for a guy about 10 years ago. He insisted in red and burgundy. It looked really crappy when it was done, I felt bad for the guy but he wouldn't listen.

Argh, silly customer. Silver is the best. Plus a test pot should always be done.
