The drivers door stay on my 1986 911 Targa is damaged. The door stuill closes OK however the door stay is completely disconnected on the inside of the door. I thought an option would be to purchase the door stay reinforcement kit identified in Dempseys 101 Projects however it is "No Longer Available" from Pelican Parts. Any ideas other than replacing the door?

Welding is best , of course....but the kit is quite simple and you can easily make your own if you like. The dimensions are noted in this thread:
