I think I made a stupid mistake
'Thought I'd add a touch of class to my bland SC body, so I had the very classy & classic Firebird Screamin' Chicken painted on it's hood - in black to keep it subtle & low key.
Now the air-cooled guys don't wave at me anymore. A lot of Pontiac guys do, but kinda half heartedly (they only use one finger). http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1151627745.jpg Maybe I should give up on my design for the Pontiac GT that I'd like to see Porsche build --- http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1151628513.jpg Love this board! --- Throw me off if I'm abusing it. |
Dude, I hate to be the one to tell ya but that bird has to go man. http://www.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/puke.gif

I like it so much I'd take the hood off the car and hang it in my bathroom and then buy a new hood for the car. Just as a reminder not to do something like that again. What were you think'in?????
|
Too subtle.
|
Uh............no. Put down the paint brush and PLEASE step away from the Porsche.
Oh, and forget the Buck Rogers car. No one is ever building something like that....well, except possibly Pontiac. They never miss a chance to add vents, body lines, honeycomb tail light lenses and strakes, etc. |
Photoshop people.....hehhehheh.......
|
Lucky for me the shop that di it was Photoshop :)
|
I love it. Where can I get one to put on the DP935 and park it next to my 77 Bandit Edition TA? hehe

Gee Dan!
Thanks for the encouragement! Of course only Pontiac would even consider build it - they only build excitement don't they! Forgive me for deigning to propose that Porsche would even consider entering into such a venture (I was joking). Since they stopped building oil cooled cars, I understand that they've been very busy building hi tech water pumpers, SUVs & helping Harley Davidson along w/engine design expertise :) |
You know what else would look real sharp on a 911? Genuine vinyl woodgrain sides, a la Ford Estate Wagon (or was it the Country Squire?)
Maybe a faux Landau roof, too. It would really stand out at the next PCA get together. |
Darisc - Funny, well...sort of!
There should be a photoshop thread entitled "Ultimate (Photoshop) Bad 911 Mods". Someone here with a LOT more talent than me could Photoshop in all sorts of things - fart cans, 24's, Spinners, flame jobs, louvers, etc. On second thought, it would be too painful even in a fictional representation...and someone might get an idea to actually do those things! |
Where are the mud flaps with the naked girl silouette?
|
I am proud to say I figured it out before the rest of the posts gave it away. Way too funny. There are some things that shouldn't even be discussed. A Trans Am eagle on a 911 is one of them. What's the word . . . abomination?
|
Stop it... someone might drop in here and think this is serious!
|
Actually, Dan, I started out w/fart cans (of course they don't show in this view). Fell in luv w/your spinner idea, but had to lose the Fuchs and go to heavier steel wheels to get the very lightweight aluminium hub caps with the spinners (Boy, are THEY hard to find nowadays!).
The fully functional knock off spinners are extremely light weight and make getting to the grease caps a snap. Speaking of snap, unfortunately the spinners are the domestic variety that don't come stamped "offside undo ->" like the Brit spinners do, and I snapped off one of the three wings on the driver's side rear when I struck it too hard in the wrong direction with my dead blow trying to remove it - not visually noticeable over about 7.63 mph, so I'll let that fix'it project go 'till a rainy day. Can pot metal be welded? No offense, dentist90, but the idea of Genuine vinyl woodgrain sides is really tacky! I'm going with genuine mahogany veneer for it's buoyancy (vinyl is very heavy). When all done, the car just screamed out for thin whitewalls! Boy, it never ends, does it! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1151728387.jpg |
A woody 911. Wow, there's one way to stand out with a P-car in Southern California.
BTW, you're missing the curb feelers on that bad boy. |
C'mon, bling it on you photochoppers!
Tech question: for your tuner exhaust (fart cans is such a derisive term), do you recommend Folgers or Maxwell House? Does the 2lb can sound throatier than the 1lb? Darisc, your ride is really happening! Thanks so much for the Mod ideas. To think I was content with lowering my car, now I'm thinking low-rider! I'm gonna check out Pelican store for hydraulics right now! |
what, no louvers on the back window?

Unclebilly, you're too modest. I'll post the mod you did for porschenut66. Totally different approach, sort of DIY Classic! A+ for effort! |

Finally got my curb feelers in place - used scavenged light weight racing radio antennae from a couple old RSR's I found in the local junkyard. The front feelers are functional but because of their low mounting position they pick up the low freq. stations the best. First trial run I forgot to turn off the radio when parallel parking and blew all 7 of my midrange woofertweeters out and had bad earaches for a week. Ahhh, what we don't put up with for the love of these old cars! (Note that the car also has purple neon underlighting installed. forgot to switch it on in the previous pic). http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1151739797.jpg |
