Is it possible to convert rear quarter windows to open?
On the early 911 models, the rear quarter windows could be open. Later years they were fixed in place. Is it possible (and has anyone successfully retrofitted) hardware to a later model to add opening rear quarter windows?
This would be so nice to add some air circulation in the cockpit. (I have an 1988 911) regards, Todd |
Yes it is possible. I converted my 78. It is a little more than a bolt on but not bad. There are several threads here that discuss how to do it. The main thing is to find the pop-outs. I was lucky to find a black set.

Any thing is possible it just depends on how bad you want it. Shouldn't be that hard.

I'd like to do that as well but I probably won't ever get around to it - having moveable front quarter windows would be nice too. Was making all these windows fixed shut a cost saving measure by Porsche?

It can be done but it's more involved than it first looks...
See what I say here..and notice I was compiling a "file" of all other posts on this topic...if there are more please add.---> http://forums.pelicanparts.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=151925&perpage=20&highl ight=pop%20out%20windows&pagenumber=1 - Wil |
But they're SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO nice to have!!!!
I did mine and never regretted it. You wouldn't believe the difference on the track, quiet, and no more buffetting! And with the sunroof and windows open, it's almost like having a cab. |
