The front fan assembly on the 911 engine makes it a bit ungainly for a front engine application. A top mount fan or some other less visible cooling system would be much better. The 911 engine without the fan is a beautiful thing.

Citroen made a dual engine version of their 2CV to make it a 4x4 for racing.

http://www.geocities.com/citroen4x4/

Now if you could put 2x2.4L 901 engines in there, that would be fun.

Damn you JW. Now I have to make a trip into the BIG CITY to see what you're up to!

BTW, you've now got Ross telling me that he'll be beating my a$$ once he gets his (ex-MW) red duck-tailed SC back with the new cams and head job. Not to mention the all important head stud repair!

Thanks...

Very cool....I'd be interested in seeing the steering setup. I assume the inverted gearbox gets the wheels turning the correct direction?

Of course, there were the various Faegoli cars, all twin-engine - 1 front, 1 back. This has 356 motors:

John - my P-mechanic up in Indy ran a 911 engine in a sprint car back in the day. It was a short run before they were banned. I can give him your contact info if your questions have not been answered.

Cool No More Mooneys....

When Porsche put their flat six in the Mooneys (airplane) there was an agreement that Porsche could "reclaim" their engines after a certain amount of time. The engines were pulled and other more conventional aircraft engines installed. Unless someone stashed one away somewhere, there are no more flying flat 6's (Porsche variety anyway). There were also some dirigibles built using a pair of modified Porsche 911 engines for propulsion. I don't know if any of them still exist or not.

I just recently read a book by Clive Cussler that featured a blimp with twin 930 engines. They were mentioned numerous times.

that trike is pretty interesting. i made a mid engine vw trike like that years ago. strangely, i've been thinking of a 911 trike, a bit lower and longer though. any links to more pics of that?
i was hoping the midgets used a transmission. i'm going to score a S-10 5 speed and see what it takes.

John: I know a guy that build a trike with a Corvair engine. Back in the '70's, we were riding out near Forks and he lifted the front wheel at 60 mph. He now runs a body shop in Black Diamond if you're ever passing thru and want to talk to him.

John: That trike would be PERFECT to disrupt a "Gruppe" gathering. The only thing better than a Black Audi Wagon would be if you used an authentic 906 engine.

Magnus, did you go? We were planning to go, but had to cancel at the last min due to work. So I spent the weekend instead fitting the new pedal cluster
Some of my 911 friends from the UK were there and called me all the time to let me know how good it was!!
