Windscreen washers not parking - any suggestions?

Hi all

The front (and rear) wipers in my new (to me) 1973 2.4E don't park at the end of their stroke when turned off - they simply stop wherever they are. Otherwise, they work fine.

Any clues as to what could be causing this?

Also, should the rear wiper be single or double speed? It appears to have a two speed switch but only goes one speed (pretty fast) in either switch position.

I cleaned the electrical contacts on my 84 and squeezed the switch tighter with a vice grip and it works fine now. It might be different with your 73 however. IIRC, it wasn't getting a good signal to "park" from the switch.

Short term, when you turn off the wipers, pull the lever a little forward or back to see if that helps. I have the same problem and it will part them. I must just be a little off on the contacts so it works. When that stops, I will go into the steering column to fix.
