1982 911SC Vaccum line connecton point question
I am helping a friend with his 1982 911SC engine. After doing a complete tune-up we were looking over the engine for leaks etc. and found a vacuum line that is not connected at one end. We looked everywhere and can not find where it should go. In the Haynes 911 owners workshop manual it has a picture of the vacuum line connections on page 264 for this car. The line in question goes from the Throttle housing through a Tee conector and to the back of the Deceleration valve. The line that comes off the Tee is the one that was not connected. In the manual the picture shows it going to something, but does not identify what the component is. From the picture we can see it is a cut away drawing, but of what? Please advise as to where this line should be connected to. We have plugged it on a temporary basis, but figure wherever it should be going to is sitting open to atmosphere. Thanks for your help. I have this info at home, I'll get it for you and post it tomorrow, if you still don't have the answer.

It goes from the throttle body, breaks into a T with the vertical line of the T being a short (2 inch or less) line going to the top of the Decel Valve, and the other part of the T continuing on to eventually end up at the Warm Up Regulator (attached to the base of intake runner no. 2, the center one on the drivers side).
But, it first goes to a small black disc which has a 2 prong electrical connection. So, it goes like this: Out of the T to the small black disc, then out of the small black disc to the warm up regulator. Not sure of its function, other than obviously to give the WUR information on throttle position/manifold pressure. I'm surprised if your car can run without this info. Let me know how it goes! (P.S. My car is a '78 SC, so it may not be exactly the same) |

Hey, I checked the Haynes manual, and I think the 82 is much different than my '78, so maybe you should not rely on the above!

FYI-The warm up regulator on the 3.0 for those two years differs from the fact that the early version has an extra vacuum attachment at the base, while the later version does not. I believe the change was in 1980. Brian has a 78, mine is a 79 euro version.
I had mistakenly ordered a 80-83 version of the warm up regulator when my accumulator went bad. Since it was my mistake I am now stuck with it, if you need one I have one... HTH |

I looked on my warm up regulator and did not find the vacuum connection. Maybe someone with an '82 SC knows. Sounds like the the '82 is different from earlier models. I am the one John originally posted the request for.
Thanks. Kevin |

John:
I am currently restoring a 1980SC and have become very familiar with the area you are working in and believe the small vacuum line end you are talking about goes to the cruise control servo located way back in the left rear corner behind the fuel filter/accumulator . Hope this helps Mike |

Thanks Mike. This makes sense since my cruise contol stopped working at the same time. I thought maybe there was something else that was disconnected. I will check this weekend, but it sounds logical. Kevin
