Head light bucket question

I have two different types of buckets. I will be running H4's and would like to know if both styles will work. If only one will be able to mount the H4, can someone tell me which one? They have totally different tabs.

TIA,
Chad

The upper one will only work with H4s, the lower one (with four mounting brackets) will work with both.

My SC went from sealed beam (with mounting brackets) to H4 (no need for mounting brackets).

Thanks Danno!

I've never mounted H4's so I have no idea. I do have a bunch of clips. Is that how they are held in? No screws?

I *think* they "hook" on the top flange, then a single screw pulls them in at the bottom. That single tab on the bottom is common to both buckets. The 4 internal tabs are for the other application.

Yes, the entire H4 headlight assembly "hooks" on at the top of the rim of the bucket and is secured by one screw at the bottom.

There are all sorts of springs, rings and adjustment screws on the H4 unit as whole but for installation, just hook it over the top lip.

HANG ON A MINUTE.... just looked more closely at your photos - it appears your bottom tabs are messed up in some way....

The bottom tab is supposed to be an "L" type affair with a bolt welded onto the back. If you need this replaced (or added) make sure that it is the correct angle and location. Getting the screw positioned is a pain, even when it is perfect.

Proof of this is my hesitation to remove my headlight to take a picture of it....

Best of luck,
