Road trip!
I will be driving my 1985 911 to St. Charles Ill for Porsche Parade on Friday July 2nd. It will be an acid test of my mechanical skills. I am finishing up a full suspension refresh. I replaced all the rubber suspension bushings, installed new Bilstein HD shocks, new rotors, brake pads, rebuilt calipers, turbo tie rods and a lot of other “while you are in there” projects. I will drop my car off this late this afternoon at the dealer for the four wheel alignment & corner balance tomorrow. Once that is done I can put the rocker panels back on, and replace the condenser in front of the rear wheel, and re-charge the air conditioning system.
I am looking for suggestions for a good place to eat on Friday the 2nd. If any of you want to meet up with me for a beer and dinner that would be great. My wife is not coming on this trip. I will not want to drive far from the hotel on Friday after a 720 mile trip but a short drive would be OK, or we can meet up at the hotel bar. I would love to have a beer and chat with some of the local guys. I will be free for dinner on Wednesday the 7th as well. I am not a party animal at all, but I like to meet new folks with an interest in Porsche and 911s in particular. I will buy the first round!
