Headlights not working
Hello,
My headlights do not come on when I turn the lights on. All the other lights (tail, dash, front bumper) do. Also when I pull back on the "flash to pass" lever on the column, the headlights do come on. Does anyone have any ideas where to start trouble shotting this one? Thanks, Mark '74 911S |

It is your turh signal switch that is faulty.

It's possible it might be something as simple as a loose wire. The power for the lights goes through the light switch and then the high or low beams are chosen by the turn signal stalk. There also is a relay in there I don't really understand, but seems to control whether the high or low beams are chosen when you flash your lights depending on the position of the light switch.
The contacts for the headlights on the turn signal stalk are pretty heavy duty and I don't think the flash gets power through the headlight switch. You might want to trouble shoot the circuit before buying the turn signal assembly. Check the light switch for any loose wires. Also check that you have power out on the lug that feeds the hi/low beam switch. Since the flash works, it is unlikely it is the fuse block. Ain't electrical problems fun! |
