Engine Flush - 1969 911E

Does anyone have any experience with flushing a 911 engine. My motor has done 68K miles, and is 38 years old. It has had semi-synthetic and mineral oil over the last 6 years. Any reasons why I should stay away from a flush?

Thanks
Dom

The debate over flushing older engines depends on the people involved in the conversation. I for one don't see a problem flushing an old engine that has been maintained.
Are you talking about the type of flush that involves the flushing machine or just doing the add to oil chemical thing?
I like the former way over the latter.
I vote go for it.

My plan is to add a Forte flush, which is made in South Africa. Great results with their gas treatment. Totally cleaned my fuel car's fuel system, and the MFI etc seem to be working as it should. I had lots of performance issues with it.

IMO those tpye of cleaners are too corrosive. They might cause all the old seals to start leaking, I personaly wouldn;t use them unless it was to clean up before a rebuild.
We have a machine at work that cleanes the oil system by use of warm soft chemicals. You remove the oil filter, screw an adapter then attach a line. you remove the oil drain plug and attach a line to that The system is flooded with a warm cleaner and forced through the system. After the flush oil is forced through the engine to remove the cleaner. This is the only type of engine flush I would do to my engine. again JMO.

Thanks. Never thought that the engine flush might damage seals.

Best

I used to manage a Chevrolet service department and those engine flushes were our bread and butter until GM came out with a bulletin about the flushes.

It seems as though the chemicals in the cleaner never entirely leave the crankcase and they can damage the bearings. After I read that, I couldn't honestly endorse the engine flush.
