Strange film on inside of windows...
My 70 t has been forming this oily film on the inside windows now that the weather is hot. I clean it off and it returns in a couple of days. I clean it again etc.. What is evaporating in there? I would think that all the vinyl and such would be done offgasing since the car is 35 years old. Any ideas? It's an odd problem.

Been treating the vinyl quite a bit? That would explain things, I reckon! What goes on will surely evaporate to some degree?

Some of the plastics in our cars will emit a film on the glass, as will someone smoking inside the cars.

do you drive the car with the windows down? I used to get the nastiest crap off of the windows inside my car when I drove everywhere with the windows down.

It's a "feature". :>) I've made up my own concoction of rubbing alcohol (isopropyl alcohol) and water and use it clean the windows and it seems to work better than commercial window cleaners.

Funny you should ask this question because I have an answer. I just got done doing alot of research because mine had the same issues. It kinda grossed me out...like maybe oily fumes were entering the cab or something. Anyway, I contacted a couple people in the customizing and repair industry for Porsche's. It is apparently an out-gassing of the chemicals in the Vinyl. It happens in almost every kind of mid year porsche.
After I tinted my windows it stopped happening. It has nothing to do with driving with your windows down. In fact if you keep them up it will happen regularly, every couple of days like you mentioned.
