finally!!!!!!!!!

.........after 20 years (give or take a few) I have my dream car!!! '77 911 targa. I have been using this site for reference, VERY HELPFUL!!!!!!!. Just installed a new clutch, and fixed a few other misc. items. The clutch works fine, but the engine seems to idle a little ruff. I might have a vacum leak? or the fuel sys. needs some work? I hope nothing major the clutch job is going to take a while to pay off. The car is a kick in the pants to drive!!!!! ( after driving trucks all these years) Thanks Pelican and Parts heaven (great guys).http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1152162475.jpg

Len,
After I replaced the clutch in my '78 911SC last Nov, it ran poorly, in fact, it barely ran. I replaced the fuel filter (which was fairly new) and it was back to normal. I figured that the 28 years a sediment in the fuel tank was stirred up when I had the tail in the air.

It's worth a shot.

Len,

Welcome. Nice ride. I finally bought my '76 sunroof coupe about a year and a half ago after waiting my whole life too...I can relate to your feelings. Fun, aren't they? Big congratulations.

Nice car, but then again, I'm partial to targas!

You mentioned PartsHeaven. Are you in the SF Bay Area as well? If so, you'll have to join us local Pelicans on a drive some day.

Also, there is an autocross at Alameda Naval Base this Saturday.

Welcome. Nice targa!

Welcome !

There is something about that picture. The classic targa in that color. The big mansion. The sunny, dry weather acres..

Ah, it reminds me of the Ewing Estate in Dallas. Pam around ? :D

Your name suggests a Nordic heritage. Norway ?

Hi all: Thanks for the info. and compliments. Sorry for the late reply but I had to get up early in the morning to twist on wrenches. The house in the background is the neighbors. Thanks for the fuel filter info., one is now on order. No we don't live in the bay area - are three hours south. (Paso Robles). Would love to get some info. on auto cross. I want to run a compression test and leak down to see where the engine is at before I start any racing. Can't wait though!!!!!!!!!
Thanks again.
