Autolight Platnium
Does anyone run a Autolight Platinum in their car? I have a 83SC that I need plugs for for this weekend so I cant order them from Pelican. Plus I have a gift card from Autozone. The only plug they have in stock that fits my car is the Autolight Platinum. It is about $5 per plug so I don't want to waste $30 if these plugs are junk.

I run autolite double platinums in my 85 carrera, gives good performance. Was recommended to me by gearhead friends who have used them several times before.

Yes they do have double platinums, but as I recall did'nt put double platinums in my car, I put in APP63 called a platinum pro, I ran out to the garage to look for the little boxes but I tossed them, so I went to the autolite web site and looked up plugs for my car,and it all came back to me what I had in there, sorry I was'nt yanking your chain I probably bumped it when I was reaching for mine to turn the light on in my head.

Its a 1985,nutmeg brown mettalic, bought it last year up in Grassvalley Ca., did a tune up about 6 months ago runs really good, had the alternator rebuilt about 2 months ago thats when I found the cracked fan housing ,like everybody else does, did the city light mod to it, that kinda neet, every thing works except the........., a/c, the rear window defroster, headlight washer, and the drivers side passenger window switch.

LOL...cracked fan housings make me laugh...can you give me more details on what you did to fix yours b/c mine could not be welded due to 6 cracks so I had to put it back in the car. If I get on the car real hard the fan hits the bottom of the shroud so I am really in need of a fix for this. I got a 83SC in April. It caught on fire with me in it on the hwy the very frist day I drove it to work. One Ins. claim and 1.5 mos later and it is back on the road. So far I dialed in the vavles, put a Porsche short shift kit in, rebuilt the brake calipers, new alternator, radio, and fixed a few elect. snafus that were keeping my turn signals from working. The car has ran great till lately. This moring it backfired and had a rough idle. It needs a new dist. cap and rotor, plugs, wires, and I think a new CDI box which I will likely go with a MSD set up. I almost bought a Carrera myself man but when it came down to it the purchase price was too high on them and the ones I liked sold so fast I could barely get out to see the car before it was gone so I went with a much more moderately price and abundant SC.

I did post earlier on what different year fan housings will fit I think its on page 3 or 4 by now. I did the vertex auto fan housing thing conundrum and ended up putting my old one back on, the vertex fan housing works for some people, but for the money spent and the time to trim, grind, file, I figured it was'nt worth it and I did'nt want to go past the point of no refund, so I sent it back. I've said this before I praise them for trying but they or anybody else just has to do it better. and they would sell everey last one they would make and have absolutley no returns even if they raised the price to what a new Porsche one would cost if it were available to cover the increase in quality and the decrease in productiion.

KWM, thats awful tempting I wish I had the engineering resources to do this because I think it would fly, I don'nt know anything about casting something like that mutch less to the standard of the factory Porsche part or at least to the standard it should be to be installed without any rework.
