SO3s slightly out of round?

With my Dunlop Sports there was never any vibration in the steering wheel. I had the SO3s checked twice and they are supposedly balanced. When they are in-phase there is no vibration, when they get out of phase the wheel trembles.

Any one else experiencing this?

I have s03s and do not have this problem.
Does the problem go away after driving a bit?
Is your car sitting for a long time?

Possibly flat spotted...my Bridgestone's (not S03s) do this every once in a while.

I checked a friend at a very large tire wholesaler...no problems with S03s that he's seen.

Thanks Net and Goat,

The car sits for one to two weeks at a time, which may lead to flat spotting. I did the same with the Dunlops with no prob. Perhaps the Dunlops are denser and thus don't tend to flat spot?????

I have experience with SO-2's and have friends with SO-3's..never heard of a manufacturing or design problem to indicate out-of-roundness.

However.....

Indeed have heard from a few of my friends that run SO-3's that long term sitting will make them seem "square" for the first few miles or minutes of travel...and then they "round-out" better after those minutes have elapsed.

The issue then repeats/solves itself if they sit for a long time again, later....

So the trembling does go away after driving a bit?
Sitting for two weeks does not seem that long of a time to me.
Long term I would put at 4 weeks.

I'm talkin' 2 weeks or so sitting time and this seems to happen on SO-3's.

As I said...it goes away after a while of driving....

Sometimes mine only take a week....

I've had mine do it overnight. If they are hot when you park the car, they will develop flat spots. It generally takes 10 to 20 miles to make them round again.

Any tire can be defective so just because there isn't an inherent problem doesn't mean that you don't have one that is out.
If it goes away after the tires warm up then you are just feeling the flat spot from sitting. I have seen special pads that can be laid down on the floor under each tire to reduce this flat spotting but I think that they are more effective with LONG term sitting.

My S0-3's have always run smoothly and I'll add that my car frequently sits for a week or more without use.

My SO3s use have the balancing weight of my previous BFGs. They have always been great tires.
