need advise on 1977 911s for sale

Just looked at a 77 911s, has 3.0 motor starts if you poor gas in intake fuel pump is dead. paint in bad shape drivers rear fender cut off owner has SC flairs. Only rust I can find is surface around windshield and rear window. Owner got the car in condition it is in now so don't know about transmission or brakes inside not bad but headliner needs to be replaced and door latches very sticky, wheels are not stock, has cibi hood lights. He wants $3,000
what do you think.

You would go upside-down very quickly trying to make a good car out of it, but it's got more than $3000 worth of parts.

Motor, tranny, fenders will sell quickly but everything else will go in the trash as you wait for someone to buy the parts. Only buy it if your willing to rebuild it to drive.

I imagine you could get you 3K back if you wanted to take the time to part it out on the classifieds and ebay. Is the interior black? If so I would be interested and it would go pretty fast. Mukilteo911, pointed out some of the other items that will go quickly. If the seats are in good shape they could sell.

Here are some other things that could sell from a '77:
1. Does it have chrome trim around the windows? All of the chrome trim is worth About $200. Also if you have rear quarter windows that pop out they are selling for about $70. Be CAREFUL taking the trim out as ou can bend it and break it easily.
2. The Aluminum trailing arms can get sold for $100 a piece or $200 a pair.
3. If the gas tank is in good shape it will sell for $150 or more
4. Some of the suspension components like A-arms ect can end up selling too if they are in good shape.
5. The oil tank could be worth something.
6. Does it have a front oil cooler? (doubtful with a midyear) but that and the lines have some significant value.
7. If the Dash is not warped or cracked it could sell for 3 to 400 bucks. depending on color. Black being best.
8. The knee pads are worth some money.
9. the door tops, side panels, and map pockets are worth something too if they are in good shape.

You'll find a lot of small parts will be going quickly. Like a cigarette lighter ect ect. Then once the intitial round of things go, you can sit on stuff until the right person comes along. If you check the classifieds here and watch the Want to Buy (WTB) adds and hook up with them when they pop up it will help. Recognize that it takes time to remove everything, and then you have to box it and ship it. Which honestly can become a bit of a hassle. If you like pulling apart a 911 and seeing how everything fits together you could come up with some money after a while, if you dread the idea of tearing apart a 911 I wouldn't bother. Search the classified adds and see how much parts are going for.
