oil pressure guage reading

I just bought a 1973 911T. First Porsche after many Vws over the years. The oil pressure guage pegs to the top when the ignition is turned on. When the engine starts the needle goes to the middle of the guage and stays there under normal driving conditions. Need some help. Thanks in advance.

Check your connections first. They get corroded over the years and this can lead to the symptoms you describe.
