What keeps front torsion bar caps on?
I'm in the middle of a complete suspension refresh (shocks, bushings and tie-rods) on my 78SC.
After inspecting, adding some lube and reinserting the stock front torsion bars, it looks like the torion bar caps witht the hole for the adjustment bolt just push back onto the spines from the torsion bars. Is the tension from the ride height adjustment bolt enough to keep it on? Thanks, Ulrich |
Hi Ulrich,
Yes, the cap cannot come off as it is held captive in the crossmember by the adjusting bolt, ianc |
I second that.

On my car, the caps is loose. I can push it back and forward with one finger, unloaded.
The little bar accross, which limit the adjustment bolt and cap not to come rearward and fell off. Once, it broke on me. Well, the exact word is crack. That little cross piece broke. My solution was to weld it back. To me, the little thing look like it is so easy to break. |
