Thumbs up 1974 Carrera Restoration finished.

Hey Guys!
We got a wonderful opportunity to restore a 1974 Carrara.
A customer from Nashville, TN. brought it in.
The car was in really petty condition to began with.
It was all original and with all the right parts.

We took it all apart and for the restoration starting in Dec 05 and we finished it 7/7/06. The customer picked it up the 9th and drove it back to Nashville. It is like a new car.

Wile the chassis was in our paint shop the engine and trans got a fresh rebuild.
The engine has been kicked up a bit.
It has a 9.5 CR, SC cams, valve springs, ARP studs, ARP rod bolts and a few other goody's done.
The early exhaust and a sport muffler. It runs better an SC.
It's great fun!

We rebuilt the trans and redid all the breaks and suspension and sport shocks.

The interior was in great condition except the drivers seat it had a big rip in one of the stitches in the bottom and we could find a seat or material any ware so we hat to have both seats redone in a material as close as we could do. But it turned out still nice.

We all had a great time restoring this rare old Carrera back to it's former glory!
There are some pics.

If this was a US car...did you incroporate the "correct" seat belt interlock..that all 1974 US cars had to have, ( didn't allow the engine to start unless you were seated and buckled up) .....

Nice work !!!..... do you do "tours" of your shop ?

Definately a goal set there to reach for......... That's one car that wears the Carrera sides well.

Extremely nice.

I was joking...you *kept* the interlock ??? Surely , one yank of a relay or such and it's gone...right?

I'll look you up if I'm in your neck of the woods....

Yea Man!
We gave him a special pig tail for it and showed him were to install it if he needed or wanted.
That way the system can be defeated.

Lets just say it cost more to restore it than it's worth.
It was a labor of love.

To nitpick:

1) '76 WC sticker on a '74?

2) Carrera stripes aren't right. They look well positioned top to bottom but the word "Carrera" is way too short. The C on the driver's side should start at the front of the driver's door and is cut by the end of the door EXACTLY between the r and a at the end of "Carrera". There was never any variation on this by the factory on these mid year Carreras. I'm curious, who sold you these stripes?

Factory photo (1974)

3) Front fuchs look over painted

All easy stuff to make right although I assume he asked specifically for the '76 window sticker...

Doc strikes again. Good looking work. Hey what's the latest on your 964 backdate? My bodyshop has taken longer to install two flares than you have to complete several cars.

Let's not joke about tire pressures, OK?

Mario Andretti sez: "Check your tires regularly and replace them at the proper time. Also, maintain the proper air pressure in your tires;
check your vehicle manufacturer’s handbook or the door jamb for the proper air pressure for your particular vehicle and tires."
