Steering Wheel Bushing (Pics)
A few pics of how you DO NOT want your steering wheel bushing to look...
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() As you can see from the pics, the bushing was past the "shot" stage. Had a lot of movement in it. It seems as though it moved up and down a lot more than it did side to side. Popped off the steering wheel, slipped the metal replacement bushing, available from our host, over the shaft and slid her into place. In fact, I was surprised I didn't have to tap it down, as stated in Bob Tilton's Tech Article. I just grabbed ahold of the flange and forced it into place with my thumb-nails. Should this be something to worry about??? ![]() Anyway, with the new bushing in place, absolutely NO excessive movement in the wheel. She's tighter than a gnat's a$$ stretched around a 55 gallon drum! ![]() Randy

Excellent work Leatherneck. Mine was similar and slipped in just as easily as yours. I replaced it mine several months back with no problems at all.

Are there specific torque settings for the nut that locks down the steering wheel or do I just crank it down as hard as she'll go?
